SUrF Research Workshop: Detection and mitigation of plant and human pathogens in urban farming

The workshop focused on the prevention and detection of plant and human pathogens in urban agriculture. Speakers from diverse disciplines such as plant science, food science, bio-engineering and medicine were invited to the workshop to foster collaborations to tackle this challenging issue that impacts yield and food safety. Potential approaches discussed in this workshop included genetic improvement, application of novel anti-microbial materials and markers, and novel approaches for early pathogen detection.
