CBIS microscopy image competition

SUBMISSION DEADLINE 31 MAY 2024

The NUS Centre for Bioimaging Sciences is holding a microscopy image competition to encourage our core facility users to push their imaging boundaries and to search out the best images to showcase the work produced at CBIS.

Categories:
– light microscopy
– electron microscopy

Anyone can participate except for the judges and their relatives. Images must be obtained with CBIS core facility instruments but can be from any discipline. 2D images, 3D reconstructions and videos are accepted. Digital manipulation is not allowed except for LUTs, 3D lighting and minor brightness and contrast-type adjustments.

PRIZES

$100 in vouchers each for one LM and one EM winner, whose images will also be shown and announced on the CBIS homepage. You can choose from an extensive list of vouchers including food and beverage, entertainment, fashion, department stores, e-commerce, bookstores, supermarkets and more.

HOW TO ENTER

Send your media to yangchen@nus.edu.sg saved at highest quality in any standard format. Do not submit multi-layered files such as Z-stacks—you should project them onto 2D or do a 3D reconstruction. Media that cannot be opened with normal software or are of excessively large file size may be rejected.

Include the following information in your email:
– LM or EM category
– which CBIS core facility instrument was used
– name(s) of person(s) who prepared the sample
– name(s) of person(s) who did the imaging
– name of PI
– name of lab
– institution and department
– a concise, informative and imaginative caption

By submitting:
– you confirm that you have the consent of the people listed above for submission and for the potential use of your media by CBIS as detailed below.
– you grant CBIS perpetual non-exclusive royalty-free rights to use the media, but you and your collaborators retain copyright. In every instance we will credit the people and organization(s) listed in your submission. We may make minor adjustments to the media or crop or shorten it (video).
