Synopsis:
Understanding how our body functions require dissecting, reconstructing and integrating various physical and chemical processes across multiple levels of precision and organization. In this talk, we will explore how the use of genetic, physical, biochemical and engineering principles and tools have allowed us to unravel the mystery of life (and diseases) underpinned by cells’ ability versus malfunction in communicating with one another and with the tissue microenvironment. Some of the latest advancements in the field and the prospects of offering new avenues to treatment will be discussed in the context of cancer and neurological disorder.
