Major Research Interests

Our research involves unraveling specific protein-protein, protein-ligand and protein-nucleic acid interactions. One of the areas of focus is the cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) signaling pathway and we are studying two classes of enzymes, cAMP-dependent protein kinase (Protein Kinase A) and phosphodiesterases. Other areas of interest include protein-nucleic acid interactions, intrinsically disordered proteins and development of small molecule inhibitors for drug discovery using structural mass spectrometry tools including Amide Hydrogen/Deuterium (H/D) Exchange Mass Spectrometry and Ion Mobility Mass Spectrometry to complement X-ray crystallography. The overall goal of our research is to map phosphorylation and ligand-dependent conformational changes at protein interfaces using multidisciplinary approaches integrating biophysics and structural biology with biochemistry
