Academic Qualification
PhD in Plant Developmental Biology from Utrecht University, Utrecht, The Netherlands.
Research Areas
Plant developmental biology; plant biomechanics; tissue hydraulics; quantitative plant biology.
Research Interests
Plants, like any other physical entities, are constantly exposed to mechanical forces. These forces may come from their environment and may also be generated by themselves. Despite their omnipresence, how these forces interact with the genetic and molecular regulations of the plants is often overlooked. Our lab is interested in the interactions between the physical and biological aspects of plant growth. By combining molecular biology, live imaging, micromechanical measurement and theoretical approaches, we aim to reveal how plants utilize the external and internal mechanical inputs during morphogenesis and development decision-making.
