Antibacterial Effects of Omwarpin

Omwaprin is a second member of the new family of snake venom proteins identified in our lab. We showed that it has significant antibacterial activity. EM studies show that omwaprin forms pore in the bacteria leading to release of the inner contents. As expected (Common Cytolytic Region), N-terminal cationic residues play a critical role in its antibacterial activity.
